Prints
What is a giclée print?
A high-resolution print made with archival pigment inks from a photograph of the painting. Each print is made to order.
Is the texture on the print?
No. Prints are flat; the texture is part of the photograph.
Which paper should I choose?
Enhanced Matte (200 gsm, smooth, no shine); Lustre Photo (240 gsm, slight sheen); Hahnemühle Rag (310 gsm cotton, +CA$20). Rag is for unframed prints: framed prints have no paper choice. Compare the papers
Image wrap or mirror wrap?
With image wrap, the outer band of the painting folds around the sides, so the front loses that band. With mirror wrap, the sides show a mirrored copy of the edge and the front keeps the whole image. Black and white edges also keep the whole image on the front, with plain sides. See the four edges
How big is each size?
8 × 12 in (20 × 30 cm), 12 × 16 in (30 × 41 cm), 16 × 24 in (41 × 61 cm) and 24 × 33 in (61 × 84 cm). Each size has a fixed shape, so the lab trims the image to fill it. Every painting page states the exact trim. See the sizes to scale

Will the colours match my screen?
Colours are matched to the photograph. Every screen shows colour a little differently, and paper and canvas print slightly differently. North light (Lamp off) is the best view for judging colour.
Delivery and tax
How long does delivery take?
Each print is made to order, then shipped: standard 7–14 business days (CA$15) or express 3–5 (CA$25), per order. Shipping and returns

Do you ship to my country?
Prints ship to 20 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Is tax included in the price?
Prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). Tax is calculated at payment, from your delivery address.
Can I return a print?
[Owner to choose] The returns window (the old site said both 14 and 30 days), and what happens when a print arrives damaged or misprinted.
Orders and payment
How do I track my order?
When your order ships, you’ll get an email with its tracking number. For a question about an order, write to us and quote your order number (it starts with HB-).
How do I pay?
On Stripe’s payment page. Card details never touch this site.
Originals and commissions
Can I buy the original?
Originals are sold by enquiry: write to Jamal with the painting’s name.
Do you take commissions?
Write to Jamal to ask.
The AI Studio
Are AI Studio images Jamal’s work?
No. They are AI-generated by a model trained on his paintings and doodles, and they are labelled AI everywhere.
Is my AI image public?
Only if you choose Hang it on the Visitor Wall. Then the image, its title, your idea and the name you give are public on jamalabstracts.ca, and it may appear in an @JamalAbstracts Instagram story.
Can I use my AI image?

What sizes can an AI image print at?
AI images are 1,024 px square, so they print at 8 × 12 in or 12 × 16 in.
How do I take my image off the Visitor Wall?
Email [email protected] with its link.
